We a proud to present ‘Acrylics by Keith Hastings’, an exhibition of works by local artist Keith Hastings in our Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō Gallery space.
“You can let your imagination run wild. It’s a chance to start with a blank canvas and just see what happens.”
-Keith Hastings
From an early age Keith was naturally drawn to art through sketching and drawing. Since retiring, Keith has been able to devote more time to his passion of painting- exploring diverse themes in different styles from scenic landscapes to abstract expressionism using mixed mediums and textures.
In only a very short time, Keith’s work has been displayed around the country, including the Alexandra Blossom Festival and the Porirua Exhibition at Pataka Art + Museum. Keith was also awarded 1st Prize for his abstract piece ‘Green’ at the Wanaka Arts Society Annual Exhibition (2012).
Keith’s style is a reflection of the risks he takes as an artist, and highlights his talent to employ form, colour and composition – creating original, bright and engaging narrative works of art. Keith draws on inspiration from NZ artist Alan Waters, a good friend.
