August Amnesty: Food For Fines

August Amnesty Food for Fines Thumbnail.

Libraries Horowhenua wants to remove as many barriers as we can for people who want to use the library.  For the whole month of August we are running a Food for Fines Amnesty.

How it works:

Come in to your local library and talk to one of our library staff, they will let you know how much you owe on your card, whether you need to bring any books back and what they are.  They will also let you know how many items of food or non-perishable items you need to bring in to cover the amount owed.

Bring your items in, clear your card and update your details.  You will then be issued with a brand new card (if you have an old one) and your debt is cleared.

Collected items will be passed on to a local foodbank or HUHA (animal rescue)

*Charges for lost or damaged items and rental fees are not part of the amnesty

*Library staff reserve the right to refuse items in poor condition or not suitable for consumption.

Suggested items:

Tins of food
Pasta
Flour
Sugar
Coffee
Tea
Milo
