RSA100

RSA old clubrooms.

The RSA100 exhibition is a celebration of the 100th birthday of our local Levin RSA. The exhibition will be part of a weekend of celebrations (May 9 -12) to mark this very special milestone. Events will include a street parade, a dance and an Anzac biscuit baking competition. On display will be a selection of the club’s memorabilia and historical photos, including features on the 22 presidents who have served since 1919.

The Levin RSA was formed in May 1919, in the back of Ken Aitken’s book and stationery shop which is now the BNZ building. Highlights of their past 100 years have included the fundraising and building of the Memorial Hall, the raising of the RSA Clubrooms, the establishment of the RSA Bowling Club and the formation of their Women’s Section.  The past three years have not been easy for the club, but through their hard work and planning they have weathered the rough years to emerge as one of Levin’s oldest clubs, and are proud to be celebrating their centenary.
