Ramila Parbhu was born in New Zealand and is of Indian heritage (Gujarat).
Whilst some of Ramila’s work is inspired by her heritage, a lot of her art is created in a unique way. This includes putting paint onto a canvas very thick with a stick and leaving it outside in nature’s elements. What is left is an abstract and very colourful piece!
In Ramila’s words “This is my way of acknowledging the planet as a living being, so we can remember to look after the Earth”.
Ramila’s exhibition Namaste Papatūānuku will be available to view at Te Takeretanga o Kura-hau-pō from 19 Decemeber and for the month of January 2018.
