Playing with Colour

Playing with colour exhibit painting

Most of the work in this exhibition has moved away from the traditional use of brushes. A range of tools were used to create these paintings-glad wrap, bubble wrap, paint knives, sponges and a range of textured rollers.
We experimented with techniques such as paint pouring and even tried a shaving foam/paint mix.

During the process of creating these paintings we saw confidence grow as the artists got involved in the process of creating; enjoying playing with colour and textures. Letting go of concerns over how the end result was going to look was a huge step for the people in these workshops.

Over the years many of us have told ourselves or have been told that we can't draw or paint and this means if we listen to these comments we miss out on the joy of the creative process. Our paint workshops and abstract exhibition aims to break those beliefs for our artists. Each person has been a journey of learning and experiencing the simple joy of creating, believing in themselves and their creative abilities.
